Like many people, companies, and organisations throughout the world, the Lamberhurst Music Festival is appalled by the current situation in Ukraine, and wishes to help. We have therefore decided that all ticket proceeds from this concert will go to the Disasters Emergency Committee’s Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal. In addition, we have added donation ‘tickets’ to this concert so that anyone not able to attend will still be able to donate monies. People coming can also use this facility to donate further money if they wish. All contributions will be passed in full to DEC. We have spoken to Jeneba, who supports the LMF action.

We are absolutely delighted to welcome back to St Mary’s, Jeneba Kanneh-Mason. Jeneba was last with us in September 2021 when she appeared with 4 of her siblings in a superb concert. Those of you who attended the concert will no doubt remember Jeneba’s spellbinding performances of Mendelssohn’s piano trio no 1 (with sisters Aminata & Mariatu), Mozart’s violin sonata No. 18 (again with Aminata), Rachmaninoff’s Elegie in E Minor (with Mariatu), but above all Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2. Jeneba’s performance was faultless and had everybody talking afterwards.

For those of you who were not able to attend, 19 year old Jeneba is one member of the supremely talented Kanneh-Mason family and is studying piano at The Royal College of Music with Vanessa Latarche. Jeneba was a Keyboard Category Finalist in BBC Young Musician 2018, winner of the Murs du Son Prize at the Lagny-Sur-Marne International Piano Competition in France, 2014, and The Nottingham Young Musician 2013. She was also winner of the Iris Dyer Piano Prize at The Royal Academy of Music, Junior Academy, where she studied with Patsy Toh.

The programme for this concert is:
J.S. Bach: Prelude and Fugue in C# major
Mozart: Sonata in D major, K. 576
Scriabin: Piano Sonata No. 2
Collection of Samuel Coleridge Taylor (exact selection tbc)
Liszt: Vallee D’Obermann
Liszt: Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2

As you can see, Jeneba is again performing the Liszt Hungarian Rhapsody, so we are in for a real treat!
I expect tickets for this concert to be in high demand.
