Sam is an exceptional talent – and has been so from an early age. At 13 he came second in the piano final of the BBC young musician of the year and then, having won the Julius Isserlis Scholarship from the Royal Philharmonic Society, went on to study in Vienna and Berlin.
His performances in the world’s major concert halls including Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Centre, Vienna Konzerthall and Wigmore Hall have earned glowing tributes. “Passionate flair and sparkling clarity” said the New York Times, “dazzling, evocative playing” from The Washington Post.
Sam embraces a wide spectrum of the piano repertoire and is equally at home as soloist and chamber musician. His highly acclaimed duo with violinist Joshua Bell toured all over the word for over a decade and he has also performed on many occasions with Steve Isserlis.
Sam is also artistic Director and co-founder of the Solent Music Festival which takes place annually in the beautiful sailing town of Lymington. And if that was not enough, he also has recording contracts with Hyperion records, Sony Classical, Topcata Classics and Deux-Elles Records.
The programme for this recital includes several well-known pieces, both romantic and energetic. They include Schubert Impromptus No 3 and 4, Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata, Rachmaninoff Preludes No 4 and 5, Elgar’s Chanson de Matin and Chopin’s Heroic Polonaise. It’s a wonderful programme with great variety.
Don’t miss the opportunity of hearing one of the finest pianists in the world playing in Lamberhurst! Chances like this don’t come along too often.
