The Bayham ”Opera in the Open” is becoming a major summer occasion. The beautifully lit Bayham Abbey is itself a major attraction. This year we will welcome a very high-profile company called London Festival Opera who will present “A Night at the Opera” which will be a programme of well-known arias and ensembles from the world of opera and operetta including the works of Handel, Rossini, Verdi Puccini and Gilbert and Sullivan. There will be four singers and a compere who will also sing and introduce the evening. They are all professional singers and have sung at leading opera houses in the UK and overseas.

London Festival Opera are a highly respected company who have performed in theatres and concert halls in many leading cities and also for royalty. The programme will be two halves with an interval. The first half will see the singers in period costume and the second half in evening dress.

If you have not experienced a picnic followed by opera at the atmospheric and beautiful Bayham Abbey, with ever-changing coloured lights flooding the abbey walls, you should be sure to be there. The gates at Bayham open for picnics at 5.30pm and the opera starts at 7.30pm. Car parking is in a field next to the Bayham grounds.
