The Choir of Queens College was recently hailed as “one of the world’s most renowned choirs” by Classic FM and the Director Owen Rees’s interpretations of choral music have been described as “revelatory and even visionary” by BBC Music Magazine. Its extensive concert schedule involves appearances across the UK and abroad, including work with such professional ensembles as the Britten Sinfonia and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, and it regularly tours abroad with recent visits including Taiwan, China, USA and several European countries. Queens choir has also recorded for film at the famous Abbey Road Studios and appears on the Grammy-nominated soundtrack of the film Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

Owen Rees is Professor of Music at Oxford University and Fellow in Music and organist at Queens College. He directs the Chapel Choir and also the professional early music choir Contrapunctus. His work has taken him to many countries, involved many radio broadcasts and several recordings, all of which have attracted high acclaim. He has become an expert in Renaissance music and he had been described as “one of the most energetic and persuasive voices in this field”. He has been shortlisted for the Gramophone Early Music Award three times.
